Could this be the end of The Jump?

Reports say the show could be axed

It was all smiles when rugby star Ben Cohen was crowned winner of The Jump 2016 on Sunday but it's been reported that this might be the last series.

The Channel 4 show has been criticised for injuring a long list of celebrities over the years and a source from the show has revealed that bosses feel it's not worth the risk.

Speaking to a national newspaper, they said: "The feeling among the show team is that this has been the worst series yet. After so many injuries, the celebrities are terrified of everything. The show is just not pulling in the viewing figures to justify the huge amount being spent on it."

A Channel 4 spokeswoman has denied these claims, telling Mirror TV: "It is categorically untrue to suggest the show has been axed. The Jump has been hugely successful, averaging over two million viewers across this series."

Nobody however can deny that the ski show is a safety hazard, in this series alone there's been a painfully long injury list.

Swimmer Rebecca Adlington was first to go when she dislocated her shoulder during a ski jump.

Actress Tina Hobley dislocated her elbow during a practice run.

Olympic bronze medallist Beth Tweddle was airlifted to hospital after suffering a serious back injury.

Louisa Lytton was rushed to hospital before series three had even started after a bad fall in training left her in severe pain.

After coming in to replace the injured Rebecca Adlington, Heather Mills also had to quit the competition when a crash in training left her with damage to her knee and thumb.

Even the eventual winner Ben Cohen didn't come out of the show unscathed, he lost two teeth and needed 20 stitches after hitting a crash pad at high speed.

This isn't the first year that bones have been broken and muscles have torn, the slopes have also caused serious damage to the following stars since the show started in 2014.

Sir Steve Redgrave

The Olympic hero was forced to pull out of the 2014 final after being plagued by injuries in training, including breaking a bone in his hand.

Marcus Brigstocke

Comedian Marcus Brigstocke also had to pull out of the final in 2014 when he ruptured a ligament in his knee after a bad fall.

Darren Gough

Cricketer Darren Gough was eliminated in episode three of series 1. By the time Darren left he'd cracked a rib, sprained his wrist and suffered a large gash in his leg.

Melinda Messenger

The presenter knocked herself unconscious whilst practicing for a bobsleigh event and was advised to drop out after suffering with concussion.

Henry Conway

Fashion journalist Henry had to bow out of the competition after shattering a bone in his hand in seven places during training for the Skeleton, an event which involves riding a small sledge down a frozen track at high speeds.

Sam Jones

The Flash Gordon star badly injured his shoulder whilst celebrating a successful jump and had no choice but to bring his time on the show to an end.

Ola Jordan

Strictly Comes Dancing’s Ola Jordan had to pull out of the second series after suffering severe ligament damage, the dancer claimed that at one point she feared she would never walk again.

Sally Bercow

The second series also saw reality star Sally Bercow quit after breaking two ribs in a training accident.

Should it be brought to an end?
