Coldplay's Chris Martin was in the Philippines recently and took time out to spend time with a dedicated fan who couldn't make it to his concert in Manila.

Ken Santiago, a medical student at the University of the Philippines-Manila, is a massive Coldplay fan and even got up early to buy tickets for their gig. Unfortunately for Ken he has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and wasn't well enough to leave the hospital to see his favourite band.

Realising Ken wouldn't be able to make it to the gig his brother Kheil posted an open letter on Facebook saying,

'A week ago, he already turned over his Platinum ticket to my younger brother. He does not show he is sad, he said it's okay. But we can feel that he really wanted to be there.'

Continuing,

'I am sending you this open letter to ask a little favor if the band could just say "hi" or a short message for him to make him feel better.'

Coldplay did one better than that, amazingly since the original post just over a week ago, it has been shared over 1000 times.

The message reached Rhiza Pascua, the head of Music Management International which is the organizer of the Coldplay concert in Manila and she helped to arrange the special meeting.

As Ken cannot speak at the moment due to his illness he wrote on an Etch A Sketch saying, "I thank you with all my heart!".

During his visit the singer gave Ken some Coldplay merchandise including a hat, shirt, bag and a copy of their latest album.

Ken's brother also shared a number of photos from the meeting showing Chris wearing a mask to prevent infection, while he spends time with Ken talking about the music he likes.
