Adele broke down in tears as she dedicated her show in Belgium to the 49 victims in the tragic Orlando nightclub shooting.

The singer was visibly upset as she told the audience: “I’d like to start tonight by dedicating this entire show to everybody in Orlando and at Pulse nightclub last night.”

"The LGBTQ community, they're like my soulmates since I was really young.

"I don’t know why I’m crying already, most of tonight is pretty miserable," she added before joking "most of my songs are miserable".

At the weekend 49 people were killed and 53 more were injured when a gunman opened fire in a nightclub in Orlando.

The gunman has been named as Omar Mateen, who took hostages in the gay club Pulse and was eventually killed after a three hour ordeal.

Landmarks have been lighting up across the world in rainbow colours to show support for the victims.

It’s sparked a call for tougher gun laws as the gunman had legally purchased firearms the week before.

The tragedy also comes after singer Christina Grimmie was shot and killed by another man while signing autographs outside a concert in Orlando.

Celebrites have been taking to social media to protest.

Vigils are being held across the world to remember the 49 victims.
