More money on the way to tackle anti-social behaviour across East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire
New funding will be used to help tackle hotspot areas
We're hearing that more money is on the way to tackle anti-social behaviour across East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire.
Nearly one and a half million pounds extra is being allocated, and is going to be spent on increasing police presence in hotspot areas.
Humberside Police and Crime Commissioner for the region, Jonathan Evison says this is just one of several schemes to tackle anti social behaviour:
"It's all about welfare and feeling secure. We have over 200 projects and a violent prevention partnership that also deals with a lot of this
"But if we can get hold of the people early on who are committing anti-social behaviour, often that moves on to criminality.
In terms of what the money will be used for Mr Evison explains:
"Some of it will be project based, some of it will be Violence against women and girls. We will continue to expand a number of projects and the work we are doing with people that could fall into this category."
Humberside Police's Chief Constable Paul Anderson says the cash will help them make a significant difference:
"It gives us the ability to target areas of high instances of anti-social behaviour to put a visible presence in, but actually look to deal with a lot of the causes, a lot of the people that are causing these issues.
"These are issues that are really pertinent to our community.
He tells us this kind of behaviour can be really upsetting:
"It comes to peoples front doors, it really goes to the fabric of family life, so this is where people live.
"If we are talking about non-crime incidents that affects how it feels to live in an area, that's why people take real exception to areas or instances of anti-social behaviour".
