A planning application has been submitted to turn a historic Hull pub into a hotel.

The Corn Exchange Pub in Hull’s Old Town closed in September 2023 after serving the city’s pub-goers for centuries.

Allenby Commercial, who reportedly bought the property shortly after its closure, were also responsible for the transformation of the Hide Out Hotel, a 15 room apartment hotel, which neighbours the historic pub.

The recently submitted planning application has outlined the intentions of the group who are seeking permission to use the pub and the land behind to add 11 rooms to the hotel.

The plans also include a café/bar area and a larger laundry storage space.

Under the plans, land behind the pub will be used for an extension to the existing property. The plans suggest the extension would be designed and built with the surrounding area in mind.

The plans state: “The choice of materials and design improvements will not have a detrimental impact on the existing property and will complement the street scene.”
