Girl dies after collision involving HGV lorry in East Hull

A 5-year-old girl has died after a collision in East Hull yesterday afternoon (11/04).

Police say they were called to reports of a HGV lorry and a child riding a bike were involved in a collision around 3.40 pm on Thursday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to Hopewell Road, but a 5-year-iold girl suffered fatal injuries, and died at the scene.

Her family are being supported by specially trained officers.

Humberside Police say they'd like to thank members of the public who came to the aid of those involved, and for the support of the wider community.

A school near to the scene is closed today for all pupils and staff.

A statement from Oakfield School, which teaches pupils aged between 11 and 16 with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties say "owing to a serious incident involving a member of the public outside the school gates" the school will be closed until Monday.

There's an appeal for witnesses, or anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage footage that may assist police with their enquiries to contact them on 101 quoting log 345 of 11 April.
