An 18-year-old from Kingsley, Cheshire, has been sentenced to 45 months in a young offender’s institution after being found guilty of raping and assaulting a teenage girl.

Jamie George, formerly of Pike Lane, was convicted of rape, assault by penetration, and intentional strangulation at Leicester Crown Court on Wednesday 22nd October 2025. On Wednesday 19th November 2025, he was handed his sentence. He has also been placed on the sex offenders register for life and is subject to a lifelong restraining order preventing contact with the victim.

The court heard that the incident occurred in January 2024 when George, then 16, visited the victim at her home after arranging to meet her. After initially consenting to some sexual activity, the victim repeatedly refused George’s requests for sexual intercourse. Over the course of the evening and into the following morning, George sexually assaulted and raped her, as well as strangled her.

The victim first disclosed the crimes later that month to a lecturer at her college, who reported the matter to the police.

Following the disclosure, George was arrested and interviewed. He admitted that consensual sexual activity had taken place but denied both intercourse and the strangulation. Police also presented evidence of social media messages between George and the victim, which appeared to show him admitting to the offences and apologising.

Charges were brought against George in December 2024. He pleaded not guilty to all charges, but after standing trial was found guilty.

Detective Constable Lewis McMenamin praised the bravery of the victim in coming forward and giving evidence.

“Firstly and most importantly, I must praise the victim in this case for her courage in reliving her ordeal," DC McMenamin said.

"Her evidence was significant in securing this conviction, and I hope today’s outcome provides her with a degree of relief and closure. She made it completely clear that she did not consent to sexual intercourse but despite this, he proceeded to sexual assault her, leaving her unimaginably upset.

“The impact of this incident has been huge for her. Her friend and mum, who were spoken to by officers, described how her behaviour had changed immediately after the incident and how withdrawn she had become.”

DC McMenamin added: “Not only has the decision that George made left an everlasting effect on her life, but also his own as he now is a convicted criminal serving a period of time in custody.”
