A mum who's son died in a car crash in Nottingham wants more restrictions on young and newly qualified drivers.

Gillian Dickinson lost her 17 year old son, Jake, in 2022, when the driver was in his late teens.

The driver also lost his life and others were injured in the accident.

Life for us will never be the same

Gillian said:

"Life for us will never be the same."

"He has a brother that now has no brother."

"He's not going to be in our future ever."

"We can't just all sit back and do nothing, which is what you do until you find yourself in the situation that I'm in and you realise the gravity of the pain and suffering."

"I'm not the only mum that's saying this."

"There are thousands of parents that are grieving for those young people who are losing their whole future."

"My child was a beautiful soul, and he just unfortunately got into the wrong car."

We can't just all sit back and do nothing

A petition calling for graduated drivers licences for anyone under 21 is being delivered to Downing Street today.

It would mean anyone who passed their test whilst under 21 couldn't take passengers for six months.
