Weymouth FC has launched an urgent appeal for information after an "obscene comment of a sexual nature" was directed at a female Basingstoke Town staff member during Saturday’s home match.

The incident, which took place on 15 November at the Bob Lucas Stadium, was picked up on the match-day audio coverage.

The Football Association has since contacted the club, triggering a formal investigation.

In a statement, Weymouth FC said it is working closely with all relevant agencies to identify the individual responsible, warning that the behaviour has placed the club in a “very serious situation” with potentially damaging consequences.

Supporters who witnessed the incident or have any information are urged to come forward immediately by calling 01305 785558.

The club also reinforced its stance on abusive behaviour, stating that racist, sexist, homophobic or threatening language “will not be tolerated in any form”.

Security staff remain on hand at every fixture, and fans are encouraged to report any offensive behaviour they see or hear.

Weymouth FC says it is determined to ensure the stadium remains a safe and respectful environment for all staff, players and supporters.
