Weather: Thunderstorm alert for the South of England
The Met Office we can expect some squally showers on Tuesday morning
Heavy rain, described as squally and sudden torrential downpours, are being predicted for Southern England on Tuesday morning (14th November).
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms.
That's due to be in effect from 5.00am until 12.00pm midday.
We're told to expect:
- Probably some damage to a few buildings and structures from lightning strikes or strong and gusty winds
- There is a good chance driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water and/or hail, leading to longer journey times by car and bus
- Delays to train services and journeys by plane are possible
- Some short term loss of power and other services is likely
The weather 's coming from the tail end of Storm Debi, that's been hitting north Wales and parts of northern England today (Monday 13th November).
The showers are expected to bring 15 to 20 mm of rain in a short period of time, and are likely to be accompanied by thunder and lightning.
We could also see wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph, as well as possible hail mixed in.
The last of the showers should clear the South towards the North Sea late Tuesday morning.
