No train services will run through Dorset once again today (Tuesday 7th May), as further strike action takes place.

Members of the ASLEF union are walking out on South Western Railway, with other train operators being affected on different days.

There's also an overtime ban throughout this week (until 11th May) which could also impact some services.

The industrial action's in a long-running row over pay and safety.

How will services be affected?

All routes on SWR will only go as far as Basingstoke or Guildford today (7th May), leaving everywhere on the south coast, including Dorset with no services at all.

Trains will also only run between 7.00am and 7.00pm.

Customers should check before travelling at any point from now until Saturday 11th May.

A South Western Railway spokesperson said:

“We are asking customers to only travel if their journeys are absolutely necessary.

“The overtime ban will then continue from Wednesday 8 to Saturday 11 May which will again mean a revised service. Engineering work will take place on Saturday 11 leading to further service changes, so once again, we are encouraging customers to check before travelling.

“We are very sorry for the disruption that this industrial action will cause and are very thankful for our customers' continued patience.”
