Dorset is seeing the first flakes fall

People living in parts of Dorset and are being told to look out for possible snow today (Thursday 21st).

The Met Office has issued a yellow alert covering large areas of south-west England from between 5am and 3pm on Thursday.

Road traffic site INRIX is reporting that A35 Dorchester Road is impassable both ways from A37 (Monkeys Jump Roundabout, Poundbury) to Shipton Road.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "A spell of rain and snow is expected to develop across south and southwest England early on Thursday.

"Accumulating snow is most likely over higher ground above 200 metres where 2-5 cm is probable.

"There is also likely to be a risk of ice developing as skies clear into Thursday night."
