An application by Lloyds Bank to remove a cash machine from the Sherborne branch has been approved.

A neighbour has told Dorset Council that the machine should remain in place, as it was now the only remaining bank cash machine in the town.

His comment was the only one on the Listed Building application.

Sherborne Town Council did not respond.

Lloyds has previously announced that it intends to close the branch from January 16th 2025.

The bank is the only one in the town after Natwest, Barclays and HSBC all pulled out prior to the pandemic.

The Cheap Street bank had asked for the removal of the machine and its bank signage, required because the structure is a grade 2 listed building, which the company said will restore the building to its former appearance.

Lloyds say the cash machine slot will be replaced with glazing of a similar appearance to other windows.
