Shaftesbury's Lido is being opened up for some cold water sessions over the next weeks, following demand from users.

The idea's being trialled each Saturday morning until December 16th, with swimmers are able to book across two slots.

There's a maximum of 16 swimmers allowed in each session, to make sure everyone's kept safe.

The first event's been held at the weekend, with a water temperature of around 10.6 degrees Celsius!

The Lido's also enlisted the help of cold water immersion specialist, Lindsey Aubrey, to give swimmers safety tips and help people learn about the effects and benefits of the exercise.

A survey's also been opened up for users to share their experiences of the winter sessions, to see if it's likely to become a regular thing.

If the sessions prove popular, there's scope for them to be continued in the New Year.
