Renewed appeal for Abbotsbury crash witnesses

A Weymouth man in his 20s died in Saturday's collision (June 1st)

Police have renewed their appeal for witnesses to a fatal collision near Abbotsbury, in which a man in his 20s from Weymouth died.

The crash happened on the B3157 Coast Road at around 12.35pm on Saturday (1st June).

A blue Yamaha motorcycle and a grey Volvo X90 were involved.

The rider of the motorbike died at the scene.

A statement issued on behalf of the family said:

“The family have been informed and say that they are devastated by the news. They ask that their privacy be respected as they manage their grief.”

Sergeant Nikki Burt, of the Roads Policing Team, said:

“Our thoughts remain with the family of the young man who very sadly died, and we are doing all we can to support them at this extremely difficult time.

“We owe it to them to conduct a thorough investigation to establish the full circumstances of this collision and would again urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please make contact with us.

“I would also urge any motorists with dashcam who were travelling in the vicinity between 12.15pm and 12.45pm on Saturday 1 June 2024 to please check their footage for anything that might assist our enquiries.”
