Young people in Weymouth have been given a new safe and fun space - in the form of a double decker bus.

The #WillDoesBus has been visiting the Esplanade each Wednesday evening since the beginning of February and will soon move onto The Marsh skatepark in a couple of weeks time - open for all between 5.30 and 8.30pm.

Dorset Council's helping to run the facility, with the Dorset Youth Association and the local #WillDoes charity, which aims to improve the mental health and wellbeing of young people across Dorset.

The space gives young people with a refuge to relax, play music, engage in games, and connect with trained youth workers.

There's also a dedicated quiet room for confidential one-on-one conversations.

In the future, the team wants to visit other locations in the Weymouth area too.

Cllr Byron Quayle, Dorset Council Portfolio Holder for Children, Education, and Early Help, said:

“It’s really great to see people coming together to provide this flexible and entertaining space for our young people. I’d like to say a big thank you to all who are involved.”
