New access road being built for Dorset County Hospital

It'll mean some disruption for drivers for the next six weeks though

A new access road is being created at Dorset County Hospital, as part of the construction work for the new Emergency Department there.

Contractors will be carrying out works on Damers Road from today (Monday 8th January) while that's put in place.

That's expected to take six weeks, with the new entrance and exit close to the old Damers School site.

But it will mean part of the road is shut, with temporary traffic lights in place.

Some of the on-street parking there will also be suspended for the duration of the works to make sure blue light vehicles can still easily access the area.

Hospital bosses are suggesting that visitors wishing to arrive via the main hospital entrance may wish to travel along Bridport Road instead.

The work's been planned for after the festive season to try and minimise disruption.
