Man arrested after reports of firearm in Weymouth

Armed police have swooped in Weymouth, after reports of a man seen with a firearm.

Officers attended an address in Hardwick Street last night (Tuesday 3rd September).

They'd received a call at around 6.15pm on Monday evening (2nd September), about a man reportedly seen with a weapon in the area.

A BB gun was found during a search and a local man in his 40's was arrested.

He's been detained on suspicion of possessing of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

Dorset Police say enquiries into the matter are ongoing.
