Call for more litter bins at West Bay
The Harbour Committee is worried about an increase in rats
There's a call for more litter bins to be installed around West Bay.
The Harbour Consultative Committee is warning that they're needed to prevent problems with seagulls, and as they're concerned about an increase in rats.
They've told Dorset Council more frequent emptying of the existing bins is also needed - ideally before the start of the main holiday season.
Simon Miles from the committee said many felt West Bay was 'looking tired and tatty around the edges', but that with a little bit of thought and limited action could be improved.
He suggested replacing orange bollards around the kiosks and replacing them with planters; providing more picnic tables for the greens and freshening up signage on the pontoons.
Councillors were also told that West Bay was keen to run a similar water safety scheme, already being operated in Lyme Regis.
