A derelict Poole college building is to be demolished for homes.

BCP Council has formally applied to demolish the old Bournemouth and Poole College site off Constitution Hill Road.

It could be torn down later this year, if permission is granted.

The site's laid empty since 2015, but has become an anti-social behaviour and arson hotspot.

A year ago, around 40 firefighters tackled a fire which was deliberately started.

A statement within the application to demolish the site explains it's needed because it meets criteria to be deemed unsafe.

As part of the work, around 70 trees would also be cut down, with the land expected to be used for between 80 and 120 new affordable homes.

Residents can comment on the plans through Poole’s planning portal online.
