Food is wanted for Dorchester's women’s refuge - after a warning that emergency supplies are almost exhausted.

Dorchester Town Council will be receiving donations at its North Square offices until June 21st, with individuals and organisations due to attend the community lunch that day asked to bring something along.

Cllr Molly Rennie told town councillors at their May meeting:

“The refuge seems to have been forgotten about with other collections and the cupboard in now bare.”

She said that a variety of foods, which could help make simple meals were welcome - including tinned and packet goods, tea, coffee, sugar, meats, vegetarian food and small ‘variety-size’ packets of cereals.
