Talks could be held between Dorset Council and the Environment Agency over flooding problems at a park home site in Ferndown.

Ward councillor Cathy Lugg says she often receives reports of flooding on the Gladelands Park Homes site in the Ferndown North ward.

She said: “Unlike much of my ward, Gladelands is located on lower ground and managing water ingress and flood risk has become so challenging that I now receive regular reports from my residents that parts of the site, footpaths and gardens, have become impassable whenever there is heavy rain.”

A call for action at Dorset Council’s December Cabinet meeting has led to Place portfolio holder Cllr Jon Andrew saying he will now request an on-site meeting with residents, officers and the Environment Agency.

Cllr Lugg says that since an evacuation of the site, because of floodwater at Christmas in 2013, there has been some progress in clearing ditches and diverting culverts, but the site, in parts, remains prone to floods at times of heavy rain.

“The properties worse affected have no drainage whatsoever, and flood risk plans and emergency evacuation plans have not been forthcoming,” said Cllr Lugg.
