Elderly woman targeted in Bournemouth distraction burglary

The victim had £500 taken using her bank card, with CCTV released

An elderly woman's had £500 stolen from her bank account, following a distraction burglary in Bournemouth.

A man went to a property in Kinson Grove on Monday morning (25th November) and told the occupant that the garden fence needed some maintenance.

The victim let a man into her house to discuss the idea, but turned down the offer of work.

She later discovered her purse, containing bank cards, had been taken from her handbag.

One of the cards was used at the cash machine at Kinson Tesco half an hour later.

Police have now released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident.

PC Jonathan Bedwell, of Bournemouth police, said:

“We are doing everything we can to support the elderly victim and identify the man involved.

“I am now in a position to issue a CCTV image of a man we would like to identify as part of our enquiries.

“I would ask anyone who has knowledge regarding his identity to please come forward.”
