Driver airlifted to hospital after serious crash in Bournemouth

A man has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a crash involving two cars in Bournemouth.
Dorset Police received a report at 8.02pm last night (27 December) of a collision involving a silver Vauxhall Astra and a green Vauxhall Insignia on West Overcliff Drive, near the junction with West Cliff Road.
The driver of the Vauxhall Insignia was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.
Road closures were put in place while emergency services responded to the collision and an examination of the scene was carried out.
Sergeant Gareth Thomas, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “An investigation is underway to establish what happened and I am keen to hear from any witnesses who have not already spoken to police.
“Also, I would like to speak to any motorists who were travelling in the vicinity and may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage.
“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding during the road closures.”
