Dorset bus passengers urged to be safe and seen at stops this winter
The clock change brings more journeys after dark
Bus passengers in Dorset are being urged to be safe and be seen when waiting at stops across the county.
The plea comes from MoreBus off the back of the clocks changing this morning (Sunday 27th October), which brings more journeys in the dark.
We're being encouraged to use the torch apps on our phones when waiting at more rural locations this winter, as not all stops have lights and shelter.
MoreBus head of communications, Nikki Honer, said:
“Passengers who are wearing dark clothes and standing still whilst waiting for their bus may not be seen by our drivers.
“We ask that people help by shining a light onto the road, and gradually rotating it as the bus approaches - being careful not to shine it into the driver’s eyes.
“Many people have a torch on their phones, but we understand that not everybody is able to make themselves seen. Our drivers will still pay extra attention to help ensure customers are able to board during the darker mornings and evenings.”
