A Dorchester school has been named Primary School of the Year for 2024!

The Prince of Wales School took home the title at the Google Reference Schools and Colleges Awards in London.

It's in recognition of their commitment to educational excellence and innovation.

Headteacher Gary Spracklen said:

"Winning the Primary School of the Year Award is a tremendous honour and a testament to the hard work, dedication, and passion of our entire school community.

"This accolade belongs to our exceptional staff, dedicated volunteers, supportive families, and, most importantly, our incredible pupils who inspire us every day. We are immensely proud of what we have achieved together."

Martin Butcher, Chair of Governors, said:

"This award is a remarkable achievement for The Prince of Wales School. It reflects our commitment to providing a nurturing and stimulating environment where every child can thrive.

"Our focus on innovation, particularly in STEM education, has truly set us apart. Congratulations to everyone involved in making this success possible."

Prince of Wales has also been nominated for the STEM Excellence Award, for initiatives in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics helping to 'empower pupils to explore and excel in these critical fields'.

The school say the recognition is a 'significant milestone' for them, and they 'remain committed to continuing our pursuit of excellence in education'.
