A cyclist has been seriously injured in a crash with a car in Bournemouth.

The man in his 30s was taken to hospital after the collision on Christchurch Road, at the junction with Waltham Road in Pokesdown, at around 6.20pm yesterday (Monday 12th February).

A white Volkswagen cc Coupe was also involved, but the male driver wasn't hurt.

Road closures were put in place to allow emergency services to safely treat the injured man and carry out an examination of the scene.

PC Steve Eastwood, of the Dorset Police traffic unit, said:

“We are conducting a full investigation into the circumstances of the incident.

“I am appealing for any witnesses to the collision who have not already spoken with officers to please come forward.

“Also, I am keen to hear from anyone who has a dashcam fitted to their vehicle and was in the area at the time to check whether they may have captured anything of relevance to assist our investigation.

“Finally, I would like to thank motorists for their patience and understanding during the road closure.”
