A man from Workington has been jailed for the supply of cocaine and cannabis in Cumbria.

Scott Hannon, 27, was sentenced to five years six months in prison.

On 6th July last year, officers conducted a misuse of drugs act warrant at a property on Dalegarth Avenue in Whitehaven.

Officers during the warrant found a bag containing 9.62 grams of cocaine which had been hidden inside a tea bag and two bags of cannabis weighing 2.25 grams and a cannabis grinder.

Other items also found were digital scales, a mobile phone and over £800 in cash.

Analysis of the mobile phone found extensive evidence of Hannon actively involved in the supply of both cannabis and cocaine between April and July 2023.

Following a separate misuse of drugs warrant in December 2023 officers seized a mobile from a property in Cleator Moor, which had received messages from Hannon’s phone.

Officer seized a second phone from Hannon on 1 April with further evidence of his involvement in the supply of drugs between July 2023 and March 2024.

Detective Constable Dean Young from the Community Serious and Organised Crime (CSOC) team said:

“A drug expert determined that Hannon was involved in the supply of drugs, cocaine and cannabis, on a commercial level, supplying in bulk as well as carrying out street deals.

“The expert concludes that Hannon was selling a minimum of 26 Kilograms of Cocaine per year, supplying to vulnerable drug users in the area.

“Class A drug use wrecks communities and Cumbria Police is committed to stopping and bringing to justice those people who seek to come to the county to prey on vulnerable addicts.

“Our officers work all-year-round to protect Cumbria against serious and organised crime such as this – and this is just the latest person to face prosecution in Cumbria.

“Anyone with knowledge or evidence of drug dealing in their community is urged to contact police”

The work has been carried out under the banner of Operation Alliance, which is the county’s response to protect the public against serious and organised crime.
