Road closure on A689 following collision

Five people have been taken to hospital

A road closure is currently in place on the A689 between junction 44 of the M6 and the Houghton junction following a collision involving two vehicles this afternoon (23 May).

The collision occurred at around 1.45pm and involved a Volkswagen Crossland and an Audi Q5.

Five people have been taken to hospital, with some described as having suffered serious injuries.

The road is likely to remain closed for a number of hours whilst forensic examinations are carried out at the scene.
