Man charged with grievous bodily harm following a stabbing in Kendal

A man has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a bladed article after a man was stabbed in Kendal.

Police received a report from NWAS at 11:45pm last Sunday (3rd November) of a man with serious injuries in Highgate.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital with a serious but non-life-threatening chest injury. Police say he remains in hospital in a stable condition.

Daniel West, 22, was arrested in the early hours of Monday (4th Nov) on suspicion of Section 18 GBH (GBH with intent).

He was initially released on bail the same day before being re-arrested yesterday evening (5th Nov).

This morning (6th Nov) he has been charged with Section 18 GBH with intent and possession of a bladed article.

He appeared before Barrow Magistrates’ Court where he was remanded to appear at Carlisle Crown Court on 6th December 2024.

This is being treated as an isolated incident, with no ongoing risk to the public. However, detectives are continuing to appeal for anyone with information who has yet to come forward to do so.
