On A-level results day, University of Cumbria is urging students not to worry as it has teams – including current students who have gone through the Clearing process - on hand to help.

Clearing is an annual process that sees students matched with available university places at institutions across the country, including at the University of Cumbria’s campuses in Ambleside, Carlisle, Lancaster and London.

Clearing opened this year on 5 July and will run until 21 October, with the process stepping up a gear from when A-level results are published.

University of Cumbria’s Dean for Student Success Signy Henderson, pictured, said: "Whatever your individual circumstances may be, our knowledgeable team of staff and students can provide tailored advice and guidance.

"We appreciate that A-level results day can be a stressful time, so we encourage any students with questions to give us a call or get in touch. We can discuss your situation and talk through the possibilities that are open to you. It is important to remember options are always available.

"Being a university serving our region and beyond, we’re proud to be working on new campuses for Carlisle and Barrow, the establishment of the Pears Cumbria School of Medicine, and to have been recognised recently for our outstanding employment outcomes for students, the vast majority of whom are in work or further study 15 months after their graduation.”

Programmes of study available at University of Cumbria include:

• Creative and media arts – animation and visual effects, film and television, games development

• Business and industry – international business management, criminology, forensic science, law, professional policing

• Education - teacher training and education; sport, coaching and physical education

• Health – nursing, midwifery, social work, physiotherapy, biomedical sciences, psychology

• Science and environment - animal conservation, forestry, woodland ecology, zoology, geography

Many offer an Integrated Foundation Year pathway option for those students who may not feel ready to embark on a full Level 6 degree/equivalent programme.
