A man has been arrested in connection with a series of burglaries in Coventry.
West Midlands Police have reported seeing a spike in burglaries from primary and secondary schools across the city over recent weeks.
They've had 15 reports of burglaries where thousands of pounds worth of laptops, iPads, and staff valuables have been stolen.
Schools team officers have trawled through hours of CCTV and similar material, as part of their investigation into the burglaries, and have today arrested a man in his 50s on suspicion of burglary.
He remains in custody while our enquiries continue.
Partnerships Sergeant Kim Keating said: "This spate of burglaries has had a devastating impact in the resources available to our young pupils.
"It has greatly impacted on school budgets risking their ability to provide extracurricular activities for pupils.
"Our Coventry Schools team are actively investigating where the stolen property has been disposed of and how it has been sold.
"These items carry DNA markings and trackers, we will be seeking to recover these.
"If you have any information that could lead to the whereabouts or if you know of anyone locally offering to sell iPads or laptops without any documentation please call us on 101.
"A reminder to anyone buying electronic items, if it is a bargain price, or seller cannot provide proof of purchase, do not buy and report to us."
As part of Safer Business Action Week, the police teams are working with local businesses, schools, and licensed premises to prevent the sale of counterfeit and stolen goods.
