Driver jailed for dangerous driving
Samir Abdulrahman was caught on 3 August 2022.
A man has been jailed after being found guilty of dangerous driving.
On the afternoon of 3 August 2022, PC Craig Stead from the Warwickshire Police Operations Patrol Unit was on patrol in a marked police car when he came up behind a car being driven by Samir Abdulrahman in Lillington Road, Leamington.
On seeing the police behind him Abdulrahman sped away from officers at speed, overtaking other cars and going through red lights.
The police pursuit ended when his car was brought to a stop by a police stinger on the A45 in Coventry.
After stopping the car officers seized a knife.
On Tuesday (14 May), at Warwick Crown Court, 21-year-old Abdulrahman, 21, of Hornsey Close, Coventry was jailed for three months after pleading guilty to dangerous driving, driving without insurance, and driving without a licence.
He was found guilty of possession of a knife in a public place. He was also banned from driving for 20 months.
PC Stead said: “The manner of the driving displayed by Abdulrahman shows why we proactively police our roads. His driving put other road users and pedestrians at risk and he belongs behind bars.”
