Coventry burglar jailed after trying to flee during break-in
He was caught hiding in a shed with a bleeding hand
A Coventry burglar has been jailed after trying to free from police during a break-in.
Ashley Kean entered a property in the city on 19 June, when police were called by a teenager living there.
Kean attempted to escape through a neighbour's garden, but was eventually caught hiding in a shed by police.
The blood on his hand, caused by him breaking a window to try and get into the house, helped to solve another burglary in the city in February.
The 39-year-old, of no fixed address, appeared at Warwick Crown Court on 26 July, and was jailed for 44 months.
DS Jay Aston, from the Coventry Neighbourhood Crime Team, said:
"Burglary is a serious offence which should carry with it serious consequences.
"This was a harrowing experience for the young victim in this matter, but her bravery and courage in calling the police helped us take Ashley Kean off the streets.
"I hope this sentence can help the people he targeted find closure, as everyone has the right to feel safe in their own home."
