Wayne Rooney has been spotted in Plymouth ahead of starting his new head coach role at Argyle.

Seco Lounge have posted a picture of him at their Monday night quiz, along with their quizmaster Chun.

The café bar, based in Royal William Yard, shared their excitement on social media: "It’s only Wayne Roooneeey crashing our Monday night quiz!!

"There’s no escaping the footy madness even for our quizmaster Chun!"

Rooney was announced as the Pilgrims' new head coach back in May.

It comes ahead of Argyle kick-starting their pre-season training in preparation for the 2024/25 Sky Bet Championship season.

From 7-16 July, Argyle will head to Marbella for a training camp, with the Pilgrims hosting South African side Orlando Pirates at the Banús Football Center on the 12th.

Due to work being done to the Home Park playing surface and the surrounds, there will be no home pre-season friendlies.

They will travel to face Cheltenham Town on 20 July, Torquay United on 27 July, Bristol Rovers on 30 July and Milton Keynes Dons on 3 August - ahead of the Championship season getting underway on the weekend of the 9-11 August.

Rooney will be supported in his role by assistant manager Pete Shuttleworth, first-team coaches Kevin Nancekivell and Simon Ireland, and goalkeeping coach Darryl Flahavan.
