A South West charity has posted an alert after four people were hospitalised in Cornwall, having taken what they believed to be MDMA or ecstasy.

Together Devon have said in an online post that they were hospitalised between 18th - 20th December.

"There have been 4 people conveyed to hospital in Cornwall," the charity said, "amongst other effects, they have experienced severe chest pains, multiple seizure and have been completely incapacitated.

"In instances where Naloxone was administered, the overdose effect has been reversed for a period of time, however, once it has worn off, seizures returned."

A drug contamination alert has been issued in Cornwall, with further reports of people feeling unwell from what they thought to be MDMA.

The substance is described as being in a white, crystalline powder form.
