Discussions ongoing as National Trust could take on Heartlands
It's understood a meeting will take place today, partners are looking at how to secure a 'sustainable future' for the site
Talks are continuing on whether the National Trust could take over Heartlands.
Discussions are ongoing between them, Cornwall Rural Community Charity and Cornwall Voluntary Sector Forum and Cornwall Council.
The community mining site in Pool, between Redruth and Camborne, closed its doors on 31 January 2024.
The Heartlands Trust announced it could no longer cover rising operating costs due to rising bills and a decline in income.
Now the National Trust, along with partners, are looking at how a sustainable future could be secured for the heritage mining site.
It's understood a meeting will take place later.
In a statement, a spokesperson from Heartlands said: "The National Trust, with partners, Cornwall Rural Community Charity (CRCC) and Cornwall Voluntary Sector Forum (VSF) are in discussions with Cornwall Council to look at how a sustainable future could be secured for Heartlands, an important cultural heritage and community site in Cornwall."
