Falmouth Shop-owner says loss of WiFi has 'massively affected' business

The estimated cost of repairs is £50,000 – but the full cost of the incident is expected to reach more than £100,000
A man has been charged with causing criminal damage, rom members of the public, saying how broadband cables were being damaged throughout the town in broad daylight
Jarrod Westlake, aged 34, of no fixed abode, Falmouth, has been charged with criminal damage. He was due to appear at Bodmin Magistrates’ court on 7th April
Shop owners were left unable to take payments on the busiest day of the year so far- right at the start of the Easter Holidays
Jane Abraham owns Stitches and Cream, on Falmouth High street, an area which was affected by the broadband cuts.
Thankfully, Jane's shop building wasn't affected, however her home, where she conducts the majority of her work is still without WiFi.
"I live close to the shop and my WiFi has been don since 7 o'clock on Saturday night.
"I do a lot of work online and over teams- and it's seriously affected my ability to connect with the people I need to connect with and how I run my business"
Jane went on to tell us about her communications with her internet provider
"I spoke to the internet provider, and they did get out a hotspot box. However since then I have used all of the data allowance trying to operate a business from home
"They said not to expect it to be back until at least the 10th"
In a statement, Openreach have said that incidents like thisare:
"Hugely disruptive, put vulnerable people at risk and cost local businesses dearly".
They said their teams are working on the repairs and have thanked the people of Falmouth for their patience
