The new link road between St Austell and the A30 will be painted in colour once opened, as wild flowers from the Eden Project line the four mile route.

Over the last four years, volunteers working with the National Wildflower Centre at the Eden Project have hand picked the seeds for the project.

On the Cornwall Council website, they say, "The wildflower corridor will improve biodiversity by creating habitats for local wildlife."

The road's almost finished being built, while the seeds were sown in autumn.

They planted a mix of annual and perennial wildflower seeds, to ensure the habitats will be blooming for years to come.

The St Austell to A30 link road is a new route connecting the old A30 near Victoria in the north, to the A391 at Stenalees roundabout in the south.

It's to better link the Cornish town with the rest of the county.

Connor Donnithorne, Cornwall Council cabinet portfolio holder for transport, said: "Sustainability is at the heart of this construction project, and I would like to thank the volunteers and the team at the National Wildflower Centre for their dedication in bringing this particular element to fruition."
