Appeal for information following non-recent sexual assault in Cornwall

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses and information as part of an investigation into a non-recent sexual assault on a nine-year-old boy in Bude.

Devon and Cornwall Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses and information as part of an investigation into a non-recent sexual assault on a nine-year-old boy in Bude, Cornwall.

The incident happened on 13 August 2016 in an outdoor play area at the Sandymouth Holiday Home Park. More specifically, the assault occurred within a piece of play equipment shaped as a pirate ship.

The male suspect is believed to have been aged around 16-20 at the time and assaulted the victim inside the pirate ship.

Investigating officers remain keen to speak to anyone on the park around the time of the incident. Anybody with any holiday photographs that could possibly assist the investigation, is asked to get in touch.

Detective Constable Clare Keenan said: “This incident occurred out of sight but there were other children in the play area at the time who spoke with the victim and may have information which could assist our enquiries. We are keen to hear from anyone who may be able to help us identify him.

“I’d ask anyone who was staying on the site around the time of the incident, anyone whose children may have used the play area and may have any holiday photographs that will help assist in identifying the suspect or provide any information which could assist our enquiries, to get please get in touch.”
