Wellington School Raise Thousands for Cash for Kids
School kids take part in virtual sponsored walk
Altrincham based Wellington School challenged pupils to complete 10,000 steps by walking, running or cycling and collect sponsorship to raise vital funds for Cash for Kids.
The virtual sponsored walk which took place during lockdown on Friday 26th February while school kids were home-schooling has raised over £18,800 so far with funds still coming in.
This is the 2nd year Wellington School have supported Cash for Kids, last year Wes & Gemma and Hattie Pearson joined pupils as they walked and raised over £24,000 just before Covid-19 brought the country into lockdown.
Wellington School's annual sponsored walk has been held for 21 years and has raised over £600K for a number of charities. With the £40,000+ Wellington School have helped to raise over the last couple of years Cash for Kids will be able to help change the lives of children and young people in Greater Manchester. Their donations will be granted to alleviate poverty, support those living with a disability and improve the quality of life for so many kids living in our area.
Generous donations are still coming in from friends and families of students of Wellington School.
Deputy Headteacher, Liz Copeland commended: "Thanks to our amazing students, parents and teachers."

A massive thank you to the Cash for Kids Team, and Gemma Atkinson and Mike Toolan for their lovely messages on the 26th February. As well as to Hattie Pearson and Wes & Gemma for joining us last year for the 'real' sponsored walk"
Fancy dress was encouraged as students and teachers were challenged to walk 10,000 steps in their homes or gardens with prizes up for grabs for the best dressed.
