Drug dealer jailed for nearly three years

A drug dealer has been jailed for two years and eight months.

Miklivan Benga, of no fixed address, was stopped by police on patrol in the city on 22 August.

A search of his vehicle uncovered cocaine worth up to £1,200 and cannabis. Benga told officers he had purchased the cocaine in bulk in preparation for his birthday.

Detective Constable Hubbard, who investigated, said: “Benga thought he could avoid detection but this case demonstrates that while we can’t be everywhere, we could be anywhere and we will track down those who deal drugs and drive illegally. Unfortunately for Benga, that happened on his birthday.”
