Festival organiser Emily Eavis has formally confirmed the news that Billie Eilish will take to the iconic Pyrmaid stage on the Friday in 2022, after the singer posted a picture online of herself in a Glastonbury hoodie with the not-so-subtle caption "2022."

Eilish, who wrote the the title music for the latest Bond Film, will be 20 at next year's event.

Emily Eavis responded by Tweeting: "We couldn’t be happier to announce that the wondrous @billieeilish is headlining the Pyramid on the Friday at next year's Glastonbury Festival, becoming the youngest solo headliner in our history."

Added: "This feels like the perfect way for us to return and I cannot wait!"

Billie will be 20 next June and first female headliner since 2016 - although Taylor Swift had been due to play before the pandemic forced two festivals to be cancelled.

Ash's bass guitarist Mark Hamilton was also 20 when his band headlined the festival in 1997.

The 2022 festival remains sold out, with 2019 tickets rolled over and last month organisers sold remaining campervans and pre-erected tent tickets to people already registered.

Latitude and Download festivals went ahead this summer as part of Government-approved large-scale music event trials.

In August this year festival founder Michael Eavis was quoted as saying he was confident that some acts from the planned 2019 line up would return.
