British Transport Police are appealing for witnesses after a 'particularly nasty' fight last month at Weston-Super-Mare train station - where one teenager was stabbed.

The force say it happened between a 'large number of young people' at about 6.45pm on April 8, with officers called out to the station after reports of a fight near the entrance.

Five people who were arrested following the fight have since been released on bail.

The teenager who was stabbed was sent to hospital for treatment.

Detectives say they are 'extremely keen' to hear from anyone who may have information about this incident.

Detective Constable Mathew Harvey from British Transport Police, said: “This was a particularly nasty fight at a busy time at the station that ended up with one boy suffering the consequences of being stabbed.

“There would have been a number of people around the area at the time and we urge anyone with information or who has dash cam footage to get in touch.

“Thankfully, knife crime at our stations is extremely rare and we are doing everything to ensure the offenders are brought to justice.”

Anyone with any information can contact British Transport Police by calling 0800 40 50 40, or by texting 61016 with the reference 2300039462.

Information can also be given anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
