Two more men are due in court this morning (9 August) having been charged by detectives investigating the riots in Bristol last Saturday.

Mark Bowen, 40, and Daniel Russell, 47, have both been charged with violent disorder.

It's understood the Prime Minister's told police bosses to 'maintain a high alert' - following widespread rioting across England and Northern Ireland.

Sir Keir Starmer's chaired another Cobra meeting last night (8 August), and thinks the quick sentencing of offenders has acted as a 'deterrent.'

Peaceful demonstrators have outnumbered far-right protests for the past two nights.

In a statement Avon and Somerset Police said: "Five people have now been charged as part of our investigation into the violent disorder in the city centre on Saturday 3 August.

"Officers also arrested a man, aged in his 20s, on suspicion of violent disorder last night, taking the total number of arrests following Saturday’s disorder to 20."
