Two arrested after fatal Easton stabbing
A 16-year-old was attacked by two people in masks on Wednesday night
Two 15-year-old boys have been arrested after the fatal stabbing of a teenager in Bristol.
A 16-year-old boy died on Wednesday evening (14 February) after being attacked in Rawnsley Park by Stapleton Road, at around 6pm.
They were declared dead by emergency services on West Street in nearby St Philips, having been helped there by a passer by before collapsing.
Bristol Commander with Avon and Somerset Police, Supt Mark Runacres, said: "The team investigating yesterday's incident are working around the clock to bring those responsible to justice.
"This evening, two 15-year-old boys were arrested in connection with the investigation and they have been taken to police custody where they will be questioned.
"Our collective thoughts are with the victim's family and loved ones during what is undoubtedly a very difficult time.
"Specialist family liaison officers have been assigned to the family to provide them with support and keep them updated on the investigation."
Earlier today Spt Runacres announced a new operation dedicated to disrupting serious violence and knife crime amongst young people, after several incidents in recent weeks and months.
Less than three weeks ago 16-year-old Max Dixon and 15-year-old Mason Rist died in Knowle West.
Meanwhile, exactly one week ago (8 February) a 16-year-old boy was stabbed at McDonalds near Cabot Circus and on 4 February a boy was stabbed in Saint Werburgh's while playing football in Mina Road Park.
As part of their new operation officers have been granted more stop and search powers, meaning for the next 24 hours they can stop a person and search their belongings, without needing reasonable suspicion of criminal activity first.
The change applies only to Bristol city centre, St Pauls, Easton, Temple and Fishponds.

Officers say they are keeping "an open mind" as to whether this latest stabbing is linked to any other incidents.
