A teenager has been arrested after multiple people were assaulted on a bus in Bristol.

The incident occurred as the number 7 bus travelled on Whitehall Road, Easton, at around 5pm on Tuesday.

Avon and Somerset Police say two people in their 20s were punched and bruised.

Two men, one in their 30s, and another in his 60s, were reportedly threatened with a knife when they tried to intervene.

The younger man suffered a small cut to his forehead but did not require treated from ambulance crews.

Officers were called at 5:15pm, and say they were told the suspect had fled towards Devon Road.

On Thursday night, police arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent, assault by beating and a public order offence.

He has been released on conditional bail to an address outside the Avon and Somerset policing area, and ordered not to come to Bristol or South Gloucestershire.

Avon and Somerset Police say they are keen to hear from anyone who was on the bus at the time, or in the area of Whiteway Road and Devon Road.

Anyone with information or dashcam footage is asked to contact 101, providing the reference number 5224164774.
