The finalists have tonight been revealed for this year's spoof Somerset 'turnip' prize - which pokes fun at the Turner prize.

Almost 100 entries were made to this year's light-hearted contest, with the winner being announced at Wedmore's New Inn on December the first - the same day as the prestigious Turner Prize is unveiled.

A glowball on a hot water bottle called 'Glowball Warming' is also up for the spoof award.

The turnip prize has been running for 21 years and celebrates 'art' with the least amount of effort - which is then thrown into a skip.

It pokes fun at the established Turner prize and what people 'perceive to be art'.

Entries for the Turnip prize last year included a ball of fur called ‘fur load’ and a toy baby with its back to a plant called ‘Back To The Fushcia”.

Trevor Prideaux came up with the competition idea in the late 90s after seeing Tracey's Emin's bed - and joking 'the good people of Wedmore and Somerset could make equally bad art'.
