Review into Clevedon's active travel scheme to launch next week
It's been confirmed the review will hope to address concerns raised by local residents
The independent review into Clevedon's 'yellow brick road' active travel scheme is to launch next week, in a bid to address the concerns of local residents and businesses.
The review will be looking into the changes which were put in place earlier this year on Hill Road and The Beach, and it will be led by transport design and engineering experts AECOM.
Among what's being reviewed include the design and safety of the scheme, access for disabled people, and those living adjacent to the scheme.
It'll also look at whether people understand what's been implemented with the scheme, and will consider impacts with local trade, and parking - the latter of which has been pointed out as a major point of concern by the group, 'Save our Seafront' in recent months.
Vicky Presland, who is leading the review for AECOM, said: "Having spent time in the town over the last few weeks and listening to local residents at the two public meetings, the AECOM team are looking forward to the next stage of the review where we will be encouraging everyone in the local community to get involved and share their views.”
An online survey will be made available for the duration of the review, and there will also be a public drop-in event on September 6 between 11am and 8pm at the Clevedon Community Centre.
The review begins at 10am on Monday 14 August and will run for six weeks until Monday 25 September.
Once the review has ended, AECOM will prepare a report to present to North Somerset Council which will set out recommendations.
There will also be a further public meeting in the town in late October for local people to hear about the review's conclusions.
The decisions then made about the future of the scheme will be considered at a meeting of the council's Executive which will be open to the public.
