The police say they're looking for a man who base jumped off the Clifton Suspension Bridge last month.

It happened at around 9:30pm back on Sunday the 18th of July.

Officers say it led to a massive response from the emergency services because it wasn't immediately clear the man had used a parachute.

All three emergency services and the coastguard were deployed to look for him, while the Portway was closed for two hours.

The Avon Fire and Rescue Service sent crews from Temple, Southmead, Bedminster and Portishead, plus drone operators and a rope rescue unit thinking the man could have been in difficulty in the water.

The Coastguard and RNLI from Portishead were also drafted in with rescue workers struggling to find the man on land.

Eventually the search was called off at around 11:20pm, when CCTV footage from the A4 Hotwell Road showed the man had used a parachute and landed safely on the pavement.

Avon and Somerset Police say they are now treating what happened as a "public nuisance incident".
